Model used to perform an ideal combustion calculation inside furnace models.

1. Purpose of Model

The model is used to perform an ideal combustion calculation of coal according to its elemental composition. The produced amount of CO and NOx, as well as the fraction of ash turned into slag is given by parameters.

2. Level of Detail, Physical Effects Considered and Physical Insight

2.1 Level of Detail

Referring to Brunnemann et al. [1], this submodel refers to the level of detail L2.

Chemical conversion

The amounts of produced species are calculated as follows:

The produced species are calculated as follows (please be aware that in most cases the amount of produced oxygen is negative, thus is consumed):

Please be aware that this model calculates the amount of products for 1 kg of coal burned, thus the product vector has to be multiplied with the actual mass flow rate of burned coal.

7. Remarks for Usage

This model is applied in furnace models where combustion takes place.
